Engage. Envision. Empower.
These compelling words built the foundation of the 2014 Granting Wishes Cocktail Reception held on March 24 at Boca Rio Golf Club.
Following the successful Mitzvah Society Cocktail Reception, director of the Jewish Women's Foundation Lisbeth Cauff contacted Music for Every Occasion to provide music for another inspiring event - the Jewish Women's Foundation 2014 Granting Wishes Cocktail Reception.
Since 2003, the Jewish Women's Foundation (JWF) has been dedicated to improving the lives of Jewish women and children in Palm Beach County, Israel, and around the world. Through grants and the generous contributions of more than 50 trustees, JWF has funded many projects with the aim of educating and empowering Jewish women, increasing their economic stability, and promoting strong leaders within the community.
For this event, Lis wanted a keyboardist to play quiet but uplifting background music. Since the room where the reception was held did not have a keyboard or sound system, Lis requested that the musician bring his/her own equipment. I told her our keyboardist definitely has his own equipment, which he frequently brings to events.
On March 24, though stormy clouds gathered outside, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming inside. Keyboardist Kiki played light, easy listening standards, including a contemporary rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
Throughout the evening, JWF announced the grant recipients for this year. The guest speaker for the event was Jean Chatzky, financial editor for NBC's TODAY Show. Lis sent me her amazing bio:
"Jean Chatzky, the financial editor for NBC’s TODAY Show, is an award-winning personal finance journalist, AARP’s personal finance ambassador and the host of “Money Matters with Jean Chatzky” on RLTV. Jean is a best-selling author and a long-time magazine columnist, focusing on personal money management and financial literacy for all ages.
Jean is the author of eight books, including Money Rules and the recent New York Times bestseller Money 911: Your Most Pressing Money Questions Answered, Your Money Emergencies Solved. Her book The Difference: How Anyone Can Prosper in Even the Toughest Times (Crown Business), received the 2009 Books for a Better Life award in the Personal Finance category. Her Pay It Down: From Debt to Wealth on $10 A Day (New York Times and Business Week best-seller) was featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show’s successful Debt Diet series.
Jean is a sought-after motivational speaker, as well as a respected consultant to businesses and company executives. She also regularly shares her advice and opinions as a guest on popular television shows, including The View, The Talk, and Morning Joe, and made regular appearances onThe Oprah Winfrey Show. Jean is a proud graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the Trustees’ Council of Penn Women. She is on the board of the Kelly Writers House, also at Penn. Jean lives with her family in West Chester County, New York."

It was a pleasure to assist Lis with this inspiring event. We believe the Jewish Women's Foundation is meeting a growing need in society, and we applaud the time, talents, and dedication of the women who seek to create social change and ensure the well-being of Jewish women and children in our community and abroad.
