Florida's beaches are legendary, so it was a pleasure when Cindy Serano of Ceremonies by Cindy called and said one of her couples was looking for a musician for their beach ceremony. Her only concern? The wedding was in 26 hours.
We usually like to begin working with our couples a few months before the ceremony; in fact, I exchange an average of 35 emails with each bride! However, Cindy mentioned that she was working with a very sweet couple who unfortunately had several of their vendors cancel right before their wedding; as a result, they now had a small budget for ceremony music. Because music can absolutely create the mood for the ceremony, I knew that I would be able to assist them with their special day.

When I first spoke to the bride, she mentioned that she always wanted to walk down the aisle to "Canon in D" by Pachelbel. Because of that, she requested a violinist. Since none of our violinists were available, I recommended a clarinetist, flutist, or violist. (If you're not familiar with string instruments, a viola is a medium-sized violin, as seen in the picture above. It has a lower range than a violin and a darker, richer sound.) The bride chose the viola, because of its similarities to the violin.
We always try to accommodate special requests, so I asked the bride about her song selections for the bridal party. She chose "Prelude in C" and "Ave Maria" (both by Johann Sebastian Bach).
When we arrived at the Boardwalk at around 5:20 p.m., we were greeted by this lovely sign. Since it was a regular summer day at the beach, I knew the small bottles of ice water would serve as a refreshing way to greet the wedding guests.
Isn't this a great idea as well? During the ceremony, I saw several guests using these pretty fans.
In many ways, the Boardwalk has more advantages than a wedding on the sand. First, the elevated platform gives you a fantastic view of the ocean. Throughout the ceremony, the gentle sound of the waves crashing against the sand provides the ideal backdrop. Several benches line the Boardwalk, and before the ceremony began I had the opportunity to chat with several friends and family members of the couple. Everyone was so nice and friendly, and I learned that a few family members traveled from Orlando to attend this wedding. Finally, the Boardwalk preserves the intimacy of your special day. Because of its location, not many passerby are likely to wander past - or accidentally into - your ceremony!
As the ceremony began, the parents and grandparents proceeded down the aisle and took their seats in the front row. Following them were three bridesmaids and three groomsmen. Finally, a hush fell over the guests as Cindy announced, "Please rise for the bride." While the first notes of "Canon in D" rang out, the radiant bride was escorted down the aisle by her father.
As they gazed into each others' eyes, I could feel that I was in the presence of a deep and eternal love. Before the wedding began, Cindy mentioned that between the bride and groom, their parents have been married for over 80 years. She incorporated that into the ceremony, which made the moment even more special.
It was such a joy to work with Cindy. Her genuine warmth and charismatic charm really made the ceremony unique. Finally, the day wouldn't have been complete without a photographer, and we loved working with George and Susan from George Flo Photography and Bud from Let's Party! DJs and Entertainment.
Congratulations to the beautiful bride and groom! It was a pleasure to be a part of your special day. We wish you a lifetime of happiness, laughter, and everlasting love!
