When the groom and I first spoke, he mentioned that the wedding was in less than a month, and he had several contemporary song requests for the ceremony. He had been thinking about either a string quartet or strings with piano. Knowing that I wanted the music to be perfect for his wedding day, I helped him solidify his song list and assured him we would provide special arrangements of the songs. After further considering his needs, I recommended a string trio of violin, viola, and cello.
To arrange the songs for string trio, I enlisted the help of Abraham, an excellent arranger who also happened to be one of our violists. Being a string player himself, he was very in tune (no pun intended) with what would work best for each instrument. Abraham had a limited time frame in which to work, since the couple had also requested to hear sound bytes of each of the pieces before the wedding day.
Less than two weeks later, Abraham provided us with three gorgeous arrangements. I was amazed that, just from listening to the Youtube links, he was able to make the three arrangements completely by ear. We made recordings of the songs and sent sound bytes to the couple a few days before the wedding.
The couple requested "Scenic World" (Beirut) for the family members, "Hold You in My Arms" (Ray LaMontagne) for the bridal party, and "Do You Realize" (Flaming Lips) for the bridal entrance.
"Hold You in My Arms" ushered the entrance of the bridesmaids, groomsmen, junior bridesmaids, ring bearer, and flower girls.
As the beautiful couple were pronounced husband and wife, I felt so fortunate to be a part of their special day and witness their true and boundless love for each other.
Best wishes for a long and happy life together! May your marriage be blessed with constant joy, good health, and everlasting love!
